GMR Marketing LLC is looking to hire an ATC to assist with the official 4 v. 4 amateur soccer tournament of MLS – Futbolito. The tournament will take place on Saturday, 8/23 at Independence HS in San Jose. The trainer will be used on an “as needed” basis assisting athletes with injury inquires and acting as the first responder for any field injuries.

DEFINITION

To perform a variety of professional athletic training duties for college athletes in order to prevent and/or treat athletic injuries; to administer treatment and injury rehabilitation to athletes; and to perform a variety of professional tasks relative to assigned area of responsibility.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED

Receives direction from the Physical Education, Recreation and Athletics Division Dean/Athletic Director.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTION STATEMENTS

Essential responsibilities and duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:

Educate student-athletes in injury prevention; advise student-athletes in the selection and use of protective devices and equipment.

Educate and counsel student-athletes concerning injuries and risk of re-injuries; counsel and advise staff and teams on potentially hazardous situations to ensure safe participation.

Asst the team physician in conducting physical examinations of athletes prior to participation in intercollegiate sports; obtain athlete medical histories.

Design, fabricate, fit and apply appropriate taping, wrapping and protective devices to prevent injury and re-injury of student-athletes; inspect equipment and playing areas for safe conditions.

Attend assigned sporting events and performs emergency first aid in the event of injury to players; clean, dress and bandage minor cuts, bruises, lacerations, abrasions and blisters.

Recognize and evaluate injuries/illnesses of student athletes; inspect injured areas; recognize severity of trauma and functional status of athletes; refer athletes to appropriate medical personnel and facilities.

Administer rehabilitation to injured athletes; develop criteria to restore athletes to full functional participation status; use appropriate therapeutic modalities and exercises for rehabilitation; maintain accurate records of injury, treatment and rehabilitation of all student-athletes.

Perform related duties and responsibilities as required.

QUALIFICATIONS

Knowledge of:

Principles, procedures and applications of sports medicine.
Methods and techniques of injury evaluation.
Methods and techniques of taping and bandaging athletes for sporting events.
Theories and applications of anatomy and physiology.
Modern practices, techniques and protocols of preventive and rehabilitative treatment used in athletes.
Principles and practices of kinesiology/biomechanics.
Principles, methods and techniques of emergency first aid and CPR.
Pertinent Federal, State and local laws, codes and regulations.

Skill in:

Perform a variety of professional athletic training duties for college athletes.
Administer a variety of preventive and rehabilitative treatment to athletes.
Evaluate and treat a variety of sport-related injuries.
Recognize severity of injury and refer athletes to appropriate medial personnel.
Tape, bandage and splint athletes, administer first aid and immobilize injuries.
Counsel and advise student-athletes regarding injuries.
Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
Establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work.
Sensitivity to and understanding of, the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, linguistic, ethnic backgrounds and disabilities of community college students and staff.

 

Desirable Qualifications

Five years of collegiate football training experience.

Experience and Training Guidelines:

Any combination of experience and training that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:

Experience:

Three years of responsible experience in practicing sports medicine, athletic
training or physical therapy.

Training:

Equivalent to a Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university
with major course work in physical education, sports medicine or a related
field.

License or Certificate

Possession of, or ability to obtain, an appropriate, valid CPR certificate.

Possession of, or ability to obtain, an appropriate, valid first aid certificate.

Certified by the National Athletic Trainers Association Board of Certification (NATABOC)

WORKING CONDITIONS

Environmental Conditions:

Indoor and outdoor environment; travel from site to site; exposure to heat,
cold, noise, dust, fumes, gases, inclement weather conditions, extensive contact with students.

Physical Conditions:

Essential functions may require maintaining physical condition necessary for walking or standing for prolonged periods of time; heavy moderate or light lifting and carrying; repeated bending.

Qualifications: Certified Athletic Trainer

Description/Responsibility: Provide coverage for football practice, treatment and taping if needed.
Set up and breakdown of practice for football, men's and women's soccer practice.
Must be available during one of the weeks in August 11, 18 or 25.

Contra Costa College is seeking an Athletic Training Intern.

Description:

This is a part-time hourly position beginning in late August. The short-time/substitute pay for our district is $20.83 per hour. This position corresponds with the fall sports schedule (namely football and soccer). Under the supervision of the Athletic Trainer and the Athletic Director, the intern assists in providing the following athletic training services to our students:

  • Prepare student athletes for practices and competitions
  • Evaluate, treat, and rehabilitate athletic injuries
  • Provide emergency care and first aid
  • Educate student athletes about injuries and treatment
  • Assist with administrative duties
  • Communicate daily with coaches
  • Practice and game coverage

Subject to budget approval, compensation is a monthly stipend without benefits during the fall semester.  Income may be supplemented by the potential for other employment opportunities:

  • Through the Athletic Department as available
  • Part-time position at local clinics, etc.
  • Possible teaching assignments if qualified
Qualifications:

Minimum qualifications are Bachelor’s degree in athletic training and/or related field and either certified by NATABOC or eligible to sit for NATA certification exam.  Current CPR/first aid card is required.
