The College & University Athletic Training Committee

The Mission of this committee is to identify and address any and all issues and concerns pertinent to athletic trainers in the collegiate and university setting. These areas include but are not limited to the following: 

The Duties include but are not limited to:

Since the CUATA inception and NATA recognition the following tasks have been accomplished by the CUATA:

  1. In 1993 the CUATA was recognized by the NATA
  2. 1994 created a liaison with the NCAA Safeguards Committee
  3. Created a task force to study the athletic trainer to student athlete ratio
  4. Sponsors and presents educational topics during the Educational Program at the Annual National NATA symposium
  5. Continues to have input into the development and revisions of the NCAA Sports Medicine Handbook
  6. Has continued representation on the NCAA Rules Committee
  7. Conducted a Pre-participation Evaluation Survey which led to the Pre-participation Evaluation Guidelines
  8. Has brought to the forefront and has had input into the spring football and the non-traditional practices
  9. Has created the helmet and shoulder pads removal guidelines
  10. June 1996, improved the ATC staffing at NCAA Championships as well as the reimbursement of the ATC for championships
  11. Participate in a national ACL survey
  12. Investigated the possibility of creating concussion procedures
  13. April 1997, created a liaison position for health and safety issues on the NCAA Safeguards Committee
  14. Participated in the Overuse Injury Survey
  15. Created the Adequate Medical Coverage Task Force
  16. Spearheaded wrestling rule changes
  17. Has active input in the NATA Education Council
  18. Created a liaison position to the NCAA Baseball Association
  19. Created a liaison position to the American Football Association
